Mary Kelly is an American conceptual artist, teacher, and writer. Born in
Albert Lea, Minnesota, she studied fine art and music at the College of
Saint Teresa, and fine art and aesthetics at the Pius XII Institute, Florence,
Italy (MA 1965). She later received a postgraduate certificate in painting
at St. Martin’s School of Art, London.
Peter Kelly is a film theorist and writer. He studied English at Christ
Church, Oxford. Both political journalist and film theorist, Wollen's Signs
and Meaning in the Cinema (1969), helped to transform the discipline of film
studies by incorporating the methodology of structuralism and semiotics.
